Huki
Huki is a smart light, designed to be an emotional support companion.
Taking advantage of the effects light has on us, Huki can be connected to a users phone and anticipate their emotions, while responding to them and changing the color and intensity of it's light. Huki also works as a SAD lamp, helping users set up a regime and stick to it.

Preliminary Research
In the Primary Research, the way natural and artificial light influences human beings and modern technologies for the recognition of emotions and their applications has been studied
User Research
A user group was defined in the user research based on statistical surveys, and personal experience. User behavior was observed at the ends of the target group to find valuable information that would guide the design. As the subject of the thesis responds to a wide range of users, the creation of personas and user interviews will have limited benefits to the design process and would be time consuming, not used.
Problem Field Definition
Instead, observation, and bibliographic research, guided the process of identifying problems and needs.
Design Specifications
Needs and modern technology have created design specifications.
Moodboard
Moodboards were created to guide form and aesthetics
Ideation
According to the specifications the first sketches and ideas for the solution were created
Prototyping
Mock-ups helped to choose the shape and size of the object as well as the ergonomics and how to use it
Final proposal
The final proposal includes the final design, modes of construction, technical drawings, how to use.

Huki can be used offline, using the two front buttons.
The right button is used to turn on the therapy light mode and can also wake the device. Pressing either button for 3s+ will turn it off. Using the left button Huki will change the diffusive light and one of the 10 saved modes can be chosen.
Technical Drawings and Dimensions
Huki is designed to be a product that cares for you and that you can care for. Using elements drawn from the Japanese Kawaii culture of cuteness, it is meant to inspire a sense or affection, thus playing a similar role to a support animal. The concept is created to help individuals who suffer from seasonal affective disorder, anxiety and depression.
